Thimbleweed Park began as a Kickstarter campaign back in November of 2014. It raised around $600,000 from over 15,000 people, reaching their main goal and also a number of stretch goals such as full English voice acting.

Inspiration for the design of the game came from such classics as Maniac Mansion from LucasArts. The developers said that they liked the “charm, simplicity and innocence” of the original point-and-click adventure games and wanted to replicate that in a modern form.

Judging by the reviews the designers have been wildly successful and Thimbleweed Park was the highest rated PC game in March 2017. The game was developed and published by independent developer Terrible Toybox.
